As you have probably picked up by now I was born with a limb difference. This was caused by amniotic band syndrome. I only really understood this recently and on googling it it explains…“This is a rare condition caused by strands of the amniotic sac that separate and entangle digits, limbs, or other parts of the foetus.” This can result in various limb differences and for me it resulted in my arm not developing from just below the elbow. I was always told I was “one in a thousand!”.

On the next two pages I have shared my experience of growing up with a limb difference. sharing this part of me is not easy and only reflects a snap shot of my experiences and the long journey to self-acceptance which is a road I am still on. I hope this will help someone who is growing up with any kind of difference.
